The Math book is quite interesting although Im not sure whether this is more of a Math or History book, but it was still very fun to read and I learned a lot more about Euler and other famous mathematicians. The book flows very nicely and the pictures really help to 4/5(). The Math Book features both the Rubik's Cube and the fractal Menger Sponge. Here is a Menger sponge: My favorite combination of the Rubik's Cube and Menger Sponge, far too difficult for any human to solve, is the "Menger Rubik's Cube," pictured at right, by Petter Duvander. You can learn more about this "Mengerubik Cubesponge" here. Paul Nahin has a number of accessible mathematics books written for non-mathematicians, the most famous being. An Imaginary Tale: The Story of. Dr. Euler's Fabulous Formula (Cures Many Mathematical Ills!) Professor Ian Stewart also has many books which each give laymen overviews of various fields or surprising mathematical results.   You don't have to be a whiz at mathematics to enjoy The Math Book, Clifford A. Pickover's fascinating appreciation of milestones in the history of mathematics. The topics covered span more than million years and range from the application of mathematical concepts in the understanding of knots, tic tac toe, dice, and other familiar items to the theoretical realm of fuzzy logic 3/5(2).

int first = 3; int mid = 4; int last = 6; //checks for the largest number using the (a,b) method //for the second argument (b) you just use the same method to check which //value is greater between the second and the third int largest = (first, (last, mid));. $\max\{x_1,x_2\} = \cases{x_1, \text{if }x_1 > x_2\\x_2, \text{otherwise}}$ You can define like that the maximum of any finitely many elements. When the parameters are an infinite set of values, then it is implied that one of them is maximal (namely that there is a greatest one, unlike the set $\{-\frac{1}{n} | n\in\mathbb{N}\}$ where there is.   Albert Einstein was reportedly almost defeated by a math problem sent to him by his friend Max Wertheimer, regarding a car, a hill, and average speed.
